The Community Foundation Serving Southwest Colorado Donations to 9-R Reach $2M

Spearheaded by outgoing Superintendent, Dan Snowberger, and Briggin Wrinkle, executive director of the SWCF, this donation will go to support the much-needed equipment to bring to fruition the ambitions and vision of the future CTE building. “We remain incredibly grateful for the majority support from our community for the district's capital projects and needs, as well as its vision, through the passage of the 2020 bond,” said Dan Snowberger. “Those dollars will directly benefit all students of Durango, one of which is an innovation center for the region. The SWCF and its donors have been long-standing partners in this work, and we are thankful for the opportunity to utilize these additional funds to support state-of-the-art equipment in our new building, which could be 3D printers, business trade supplies and software upgrades and adoptions.”  Since Snowberger’s arrival in Durango, more than $1.6 million has been secured for the district through the Community Foundation and its donors. These funds have greatly enhanced the educational programs for all students in the district.

“The Community Foundation prioritizes educational opportunities for the dual benefit of supporting local youth and the broader community,” says Briggen Wrinkle, executive director of the SWCF. “The future Career Technical Education building and programs will support opportunities for students to gain skills that can be put to good use right here in Southwest Colorado, helping our community to thrive. Over his tenure, Superintendent Dan Snowberger cultivated a strong relationship with these donors, which resulted in gifts of more than $2 million for 9-R projects. The Community Foundation looks forward to continuing our longstanding partnership with 9-R’s new leadership.”
