As COVID-19 continues to become a common part of our daily lives we would like to offer a few reminders that will allow our students and staff to remain healthy throughout the school year. Durango Schools follows the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s guidance for schools,

Durango Education Foundation (DEF) is excited to announce the first-ever Back to School Resource Fair: A one-stop shop of programs and resources for students and their families. The event will be held at La Plata Fairgrounds on Wednesday, Aug. 24 from 4 to 7 p.m.

At the May 24 Durango School District 9-R Board of Education Regular Meeting, representatives from Anderson Mason Dale Architects-including DHS student intern Nick Huber, Jaynes Corporation, and Jacobs Bond Project Management presented the IMPACT Career Center Schematic Design community update.

The Spanish-speaking Parent Advisory Council will meet with Dr. Karen Cheser to exchange ideas and explore how we can improve the 9-R School District for you and your children. The meeting will be in Spanish with English interpretation provided. Please RSVP with your school’s Parent Liaison.

The next Durango School District 9-R Board of Education Regular Meeting is scheduled for May 24, 2022, 5:30 p.m.

Durango 9-R Student Support Services and School Liaisons worked with community partners to build, install, and fill five Little Libraries with the goal of increasing book access and reading opportunities for students in our community.

Preschool interest forms are now being accepted for the 2022-2023 school year. Each elementary school has at least one full school day preschool classroom, and Needham Elementary also has a half-day program.

The community is invited to learn about youth substance use and
discover resources to help children have a safe summer on Wednesday, May 25th.
