Student IDs Reminder

This is a friendly reminder for 9-R families that we are now using Student IDs for all students, all grade levels, for use both on route and activity buses, for City Transit services and for use in our school libraries. Students in the secondary level have IDs that are specific to their school site, while elementary-aged student IDs have the 9-R logo on it as to not designate school site. IDs for elementary students also come with a badge holder and a clip so students can clip the IDs to their bags or other belongings to prevent loss.

Full STEAM Ahead at Sunnyside Elementary

From the classroom to the playground, Sunnyside Elementary is bursting with creative energy this year as the school implements their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) emphasis. Through a community grant, Sunnyside has been able to purchase resources to start up the STEAM initiative throughout the school.

Update for Bus Routes SS2 and SS3

The following is a non-emergency message from Durango School District 9-R for all families on bus routes SS2 and SS3.  These afternoon routes have recently been updated in order to better serve our students across the area that those routes serve. The change will only affect you in that your route number has changed for the afternoon bus service.

In 2014, it was signed into proclamation that October is the official Colorado Safe Schools Month. This focus allows schools and communities across the state to educate and focus on school safety within their unique communities.

Coffee with the Superintendent

Drop in at the Durango Public Library, second floor meeting room, to have a cup of coffee and join a dialogue with Superintendent Dan Snowberger this Wednesday, November 1st from 12:00-1:30. He'll be there to answer all your questions and listen to your ideas and feedback for Durango School District 9-R. The coffee's on us! Free coffee and light snacks provided by the Common Grounds Coffee Cart.

Seeking Applicants - Personalized Competency Based Learning Team

An action in this year’s Teaching and Learning Plan is to convene a Personalized Competency Based Learning (PCBL) Team. As the district continues to evolved its instructional practices to support personalized learning based on individual competency, it is critical to have parents and our community involved in this process.  To that end, we are seeking representatives of each school and stakeholder group.
